ELUTIONS announced that NSTAR has chosen the ELUTIONS PRLM Software application
Tampa, Florida - August 30, 2004 - ELUTIONS announced today that NSTAR has chosen the ELUTIONS PRLM Software application in consort with the ELUTIONS hardware platforms to support their participation in the ISO New England's (ISO-NE) Demand Response Programs.
PRLM is a modular component of ELUTIONS' Active Energy Management (AEM®) system, an Internet-based, wide area energy information management solution that offers NSTAR and their customers the tools to realize and benefit from a faster and more efficient communication of load response events and near-real-time visibility of factors that impact the wholesale energy market. The ELUTIONS AEM® system provides event initiation, customer notification, event monitoring, performance compliance alerts and settlement calculation for the ISO-NE, and participating Demand Response Providers.

ELUTIONS offers a comprehensive Internet-based system, expanding on several highly successful load response program implementations. AEM® is an energy use analysis tool with flexible demand response capabilities, and integrated two-way (fixed-wire and wireless) communications platform. The AEM® application supports open data exchange protocols that is fundamental within New England ISO's Internet-Based Communication System Open Solution (IBCS-OS) Demand Response Program and provides a fully compliant solution for NSTAR and their customers.
ELUTIONS provided a complete suite of hardware and software to fulfill NSTAR's needs. NSTAR is utilizing ELUTIONS' GPIM (Global Pulse Input Module) for fixed wire based pulse metering applications, as well as the ELUTIONS SAM meter for CT based metering applications, all communicating to the AEM® system. In the future the system will use the PM1600 (IDEN Ruggedized) pulse counting wireless data modem, a backbone technology for collecting meter data. This will allow the data to be sent directly from the meter over the iDEN® network to the AEM® system.
This wireless technology easily interfaces into metering, sub-metering, and other electronic equipment, providing NSTAR with an alternative approach to the traditional phone line transmission method and creating a cost-effective, reliable, flexible and secure connection.
