Wizcon for Windows and Internet

Tight security prevents unauthorized access
Wizcon manages security for an unlimited number of users and groups. New users can be defined at runtime. System administrators can assign each user to one or more user groups according to the user’s position and role in the organization. Each application’s control object, such as Tag, Image, layer and menu item, is also associated with a set of groups. For large network applications, the user definition and authorization configuration files can be located on the network file server and can be shared by all stations across the network.

On the Internet side, the Web user must enter his/her name and password before accessing the application. Wizcon also allows system integrators/developers to limit the features that a user will be able to perform from a Web browser. For example, the ability to perform control operations can be completely disabled for all users, by each user, group of users or page by page. In addition, Wizcon offers security features for controlling the contents of each page according to user authorization levels (engineers, operators, technicians and so on). Internet-standard security devices such as firewalls and other types of encryption solutions can also provide enhanced security.

Wizcon Java clients communicate with the Wizcon Server through a dedicated socket connection. The server will establish a connection only after a client verification process. The IP address of a client accessing the server can be logged on the server.

Users and groups can be defined at runtime. (Click to enlarge) Wizcon now incorporates user management capabilities that give end users more flexibility in managing their own information while enabling system administrators to retain full control over what users can do. With the appropriate authorization from their system administrator, users can now change their own passwords, directly access certain Web applications and Wizcon pages, and change certain portions of their own user definition in the system.

On-duty management responsibilities can also be defined at runtime. "Alert groups" can be created according to specifications defined by the application developer, and users within those groups can be assigned to teams responsible for managing specific alerts. When an alarm occurs, a team scheduler directs it to the designated team for attention, ensuring that the right people attend to it.
