An integrated asset management system is mainly comprised of the following components:
• Wireless Modem with GPS – such as ELUTIONS R1600 or RX family of wireless modem (which are installed on vehicles being monitored)
• Communication Network – such as GSM, CDMA or iDEN® networks.
• Monitoring and Reporting Software – such as ELUTIONS ALERT® Software
The
wireless modem is equipped with an embedded GPS module receiver
(which instantly calculates the position, velocity and direction
of the vehicle (by means of the data sent by the GPS satellite
network) and is mounted on the vehicle. As the vehicle travels,
its GPS position is updated automatically and its last known
position is displayed, together with the speed, moving direction,
etc. The software logs all positions received from the vehicle,
making it possible to display the route history information.
Utilizing the communication network, the software allows
the dispatcher or any other authorized user to interrogate
the vehicle and display of its position on a map. Alarm
notifications (via email alerts) are sent near real-time
to the ALERT® application when a vehicle has traveled
through its defined geographic boundaries, allowing the
dispatcher to take appropriate and immediate action.
